The ISBE will organize the third International Bionic Innovation Competition (IBIC) in 2022, a continuum of previous two IBICs, which were successfully organized in 2017 & 2019. IBIC2022 is a joint-event of the 7th International Conference of Bionic Engineering (ICBE2022) which is going to take place on 15-18 September 2022, in Wuhan, China. The competition is geared to engage more awareness and commitment in Bionics, to spread the spirit, idea and methodology of bionic research, and to inspire innovative science and technology for human future. The winners will be invited to participate in the Award Ceremony held during the ICBE2022.

THEME: Empowering Bionic Innovations

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Only ISBE Student Members including postgraduate and undergraduate are eligible. Non-ISBE members are suggested to join the ISBE online in advance at https://isbe-online.org/?ui=english&mod=member&act=reg.

2. Both individual and group participations are welcome. For the team work, the award will be presented to the first author.

3. Each student member is allowed to submit only one entry.

4. Award-winning works in the 2017 & 2019 IBICs will be excluded from IBIC2022.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Form: Poster using the provided template (1 page) with file size less than 10M.

2. Content: Innovative ideas, methods, materials, devices or instruments inspired by nature and/or designed with bionic concepts. Products with potential practical applications are highly encouraged.

3. Language: English. Description should be concise with proper illustration.

4. Copyright: All entrants must warrant that the entry is entirely their own work and not violating any copyright of a third party.

5. Supplementary materials: Supplementary materials, such as video clips, could be separately sent to the organizer (office@isbe-online.org) via emails. Please indicate the submission ID number in the subject of the email.

AWARDS

1. Premier Prizes: 2 persons

Travel award: the travel cost (up to $3000) to attend the ICBE2022 will be reimbursed.

Fee waiver: the registration fee for ICBE2022 will be waived.

2. Secondary Prizes: 5 persons

Travel award: the travel cost (up to $2000) to attend the ICBE2022 will be reimbursed.

Fee waiver: the registration fee for ICBE2022 will be waived.

3. Tertiary Prizes: 10 persons

Travel award: the travel cost (up to $1000) to attend the ICBE2022 will be reimbursed.

Fee waiver: the registration fee for ICBE2022 will be waived.

4. Finalist Prizes: 10 persons

Fee waiver: the registration fee for ICBE2022 will be waived.

*All the winning works will receive honorary certificates from ISBE.

Note: The travel cost shall be reimbursed according to the actual amount of air tickets (economy class) or train tickets (second class).

EVALUATION PROCESS:

1. The evaluation committee will be nominated by the Youth Commission of the ISBE.

2. The committee assesses the entries and selects the winners of the Premier, Secondary, Tertiary Prizes and Finalist Prizes based on the innovation, potential value and application feasibility.

3. The evaluation results will be announced at the official website of the ISBE in July.

4. The winning works will be displayed on the official website of the ISBE.
